Neil Cragg dominates Nitro Buggy and Daniel Austin dominates Electric Buggy in the second round of the EMAS series at NDOR.
On a cold morning 43 drivers arrive at NDOR in the East Midlands for the second round of the EMAS series. This series is a joint venture between two clubs. Deerdale Off Road and NDOR (Notts & Derby Off Road) A local series for local drivers
The days racing consisted of a round of practice and then three rounds of qualifying. The standard of driving at the top was very good. Kieran Cox was out there and doing some very impressive laps. His new Xray was planted! Very impressive driving from the young driver.
Equally impressive was Neil Cragg who was driving very well and making everyone else look slow.
With five heats a round we didn’t stop or pause throughout the qualifying process. I was working along side the NDOR Chairman Darrell as he was running the meeting and learning how to at the same time with my help obviously.
During the final round of qualifying we saw some amazing times and laps going in. The lap record was broken again by Kieran Cox. The lap was 36.32
In this same heat we saw Neil Cragg break the race record for a seven minute heat with a time of 12/7m 37.38 Best lap of 37.36 and an average of 38.12
Some brilliant consistent racing from all drivers. During the lunch break we had a few drivers drop out with issues. One being a E-Buggy LiPo fire which was dealt with quickly. What a smell that made!
After the lunch break we embarked on the finals. There were 5 finals to run. 3 Nitro Buggy and only a single Electric Buggy final.
The Nitro C Buggy Final was the first one on the line which started just before half past 2 in the afternoon.
This final was a 15 minute final like all finals in this series. First place was taken by Deerdale Committee member Jonathan Weldon, Second place was NDOR driver Chris Easterbrook or The Basher as we know him. The guy we all know from Rc Gamez Robert Stevenson took third place. The top 3 was promoted to the B Final.
The next race on the line was the E-Buggy final. A good race for all. I set myself a goal and that was to beat Si Cummins which I did. I finished where i started which was happy with. But thats enough about me. Dan Austin took the win a entire lap in front of the rest of field. David Corden took second place. Matt Bridge from RacePaceRC took third place overall.
The B Final was the next race to the line.
The second to last final of the day. Micheal Lightfoot took the win. Young Freddie Thompson took second place. Finally Harvey Ward took third place.
These drivers were promoted to the A Final which was the last final of the day. Don't have a photo of these unfortuately
Well what can i say about the A Final. Was an intense race with battles going on throughout the whole race. How ever after 15 minutes Neil Cragg took the win with an impressive time of 24/15m 26.33. Kieran Cox took second place with an equally impressive time of 24/15m 40.51, Finally we saw Dave Bailey took third place with a time of 22/15m 0.93

I would like to say well done to all drivers that competed in this event. Thank you to the great team in the canteen for making great food for us all. Special thanks to those that helped marshal the empty points for the E-Buggy Final.
I would like to say well done to Darrell Skinner for all his effort in Race Control even though he was shaking to start with.

I will see you all soon
